With short-form content on the rise, YouTube is trying to make the most of it. The platform recently announced that creators will now be able to add product stickers to their Shorts videos. These stickers act like tappable icons and are designed to highlight products directly within the video. Viewers can tap a sticker to check out a product or even browse a full list if multiple items are tagged. Also Read: YouTube Shorts Gets Google Lens for Real-Time Visual Searches: Here’s How It Works
This change comes immediately after Google did a small test and found that product stickers performed 40% better than the old shopping button. Also Read: Fujifilm X half is here: A Compact Digital Camera built for Social Media with a Retro Look
If you’re a YouTube creator with access to Shorts monetisation, you can now use this new feature. Just head into the stickers app and choose your product. Even if you’ve tagged multiple products, only the first one on your list becomes the sticker, so make sure to keep your best product at the top. The app also gives creators full control, letting you decide the size and placement of the sticker. For now, this feature is limited to the YouTube mobile app. Also Read: Struggling with Endless Scrolling habits? YouTube Shorts might have the Perfect Solution
These small tweaks add a creative edge and give creators more flexibility to highlight items in a visual and eye-catching way. For viewers, it also becomes easier to tap directly through to the product page on the retailer’s site. If there are multiple products, a small arrow lets them browse the full list. For now, this feature is available globally, except in South Korea.
So next time you’re scrolling through Shorts, don’t be surprised if you spot some slick-looking stickers popping up.
