Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its next big software update, HyperOS 3, will be unveiled on August 28 in China. The update is based on Android 16 and comes just a year after the launch of HyperOS 2. The company is using the tagline “Everything Goes Smoothly”, suggesting that users can expect more fluid animations and a generally smoother interface. Interestingly, Xiaomi was earlier expected to debut this OS alongside its upcoming Xiaomi 16 series smartphones. Instead, the company has chosen to launch the update a bit earlier, giving existing users a chance to test it out before the new phones arrive. Xiaomi has also announced that the HyperOS 3 beta programme is now open. Interested users can head to the Xiaomi Community Internal Testing Centre to enrol. The beta rollout will begin immediately after the August 28 launch event for select Xiaomi phones and tablets. While Xiaomi has not shared all the details of what’s new, it’s expected that redesigned elements, faster app transitions, and a more responsive UI will be part of the package.
