WWDC 2024: From iOS 18 to Apple AI what to expect, where to watch the event live

WWDC 2024 rumour roundup: Apple will host its annual developers’ conference WWDC (Worldwide Developers’ Conference) 2024 tonight. At the event, dubbed as, Action Packed, Apple will showcase its next generation of operating systems that will be coming to its devices later this year. In addition to new OS announcement, Apple is also likely to talk about the future of AI in the Apple-verse. Coming like Google, Samsung and Oppo have already started bringing artificial intelligence-based features to their devices. And at WWDC 2024, Apple could reveal its own plans in this regard.

WWDC 2024: Where to watch the event live

Apple will be hosting WWDC 2024 between June 10 and June 14. The keynote address will take place on June 10 wherein Apple CEO Tim Cook and its team of leaders will announce the next generation of OSes. The keynote address will begin at 10AM PST or 10:30AM IST.

WWDC 2024: Where to expect from the event

iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

One of the highlights of the night will be iOS 18 (and iPadOS 18), which will be coming to iPhone 16 and some of the older iPhone models later this year. iOS 18 and iPadOS 16 are likely to bring a host of new features including home screen customisation, control centre changes, AI generated emojis, AI photo editing and RCS messages among others. In addition to this, reports suggest that Apple will be launching a new Passwords app powered by iCloud Keychain. This app will let Apple device users log into apps and websites seamlessly.

watchOS 11

As is customary, Apple will also be announcing watchOS 11 at the event. watchOS 11 is expected to bring improvements to Siri. As per a report by Bloomberg’s ‌Mark Gurman, Siri’s updated interface will “uniquely format responses depending on the type of query”.

macOS 15

Apple is expected to give macOS 15 a similar AI upgrade as iOS 18. This means updates to Siri, Notes and Safari should also trickle down to the new macOS. Additionally, Apple is also expected to make major changes to its Calculator app.

tvOS 18

As per reports, Apple is also likely to bring Siri’s AI features to tvOS 18 as well. While specifics are unknown at the moments, the updates are expected to be minor than monumental.

visionOS 2

Apple is also expected to announce visionOS 2 and the places where Vision Pro will be available. Beyond this, information in this regard is scarce at the moment.

Apple Intelligence

Apple is likely to rebrand AI as Apple Intelligence at the keynote address tonight. With this, the company will introduce AI features across its family of devices and apps including iOS 18 and macOS 15. Reports for long have suggested that Apple is planning to collaborate with OpenAI to play catchup to companies such as Google, Microsoft and Samsung.
