Qualcomm has officially unveiled its latest and most powerful mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The company launched the new processor at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Hawaii. The company says its latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is designed to compete with Apple’s A19 Pro chipset. The platform promises to redefine Android flagship experience, delivering unmatched speed and enhanced efficiency. In addition, there are several advanced on-device AI capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is suitable for the next generation of smartphones that can deliver both high-end gaming and professional-grade creative experiences.
At the core of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which Qualcomm claims is the fastest mobile CPU to date. The chipset delivers 20% more performance as compared to its predecessor. It runs the multitasking, gaming, and demanding applications smoother.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is paired with the redesigned Adreno GPU, enhancing the graphics performance by 23%. However, the Hexagon NPU ensures 37% faster AI processing.
These combined upgrades result in highly efficient performance, longer battery life, and seamless operation for intensive mobile tasks.
One of the most striking feature of this newly launched chipset is its personalized agentic AI capabilities. Unlike standard AI assistants, the agentic AI in Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 continuously learn on-device and process inputs in real-time.
This innovation will help smartphones to act more intelligently and offering context-aware suggestions to users, that too without compromising the security.
For content creators, Qualcomm introduces Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec recording, a first in the mobile space. It is combined with the AI-powered camera enhancements. It allows smartphones to capture studio-grade images. In addition, it also helps in extensive post-production work.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be used in flagship smartphones, including brands like Honor, iQOO, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, Poco, Realme, Redmi, RedMagic, ROG, Samsung, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
