Foldables have improved over the years. We have seen all types of foldables, from book-style form factors to flip-style phones. OnePlus has been one brand that has left a mark in the foldable space. OnePlus fans have been waiting for the OnePlus Open 2, and we might just be getting the Open 2 sooner than expected.
Recently, a leak hinted that Oppo, the sister company of OnePlus, is already gearing up to launch the Find N6. This N6 leak also gives a hint about the next-gen OnePlus Open 2, as it could be a rebranded N6 set to launch globally.
The Oppo Find N5 dropped earlier this year with an impressively slim design. It is 4.2mm unfolded and just 8.9mm folded. For context, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 is chunkier at 5.6mm and 12.1mm, making Oppo’s foldable a standout for thinness and lightness.
A new report has revealed that Oppo has started developing the Find N6. It is expected to keep that featherlight and slim profile while being powerful as well. It might be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset promising top-tier performance and efficiency.
The big question is whether the Find N6 will launch outside China as a OnePlus phone. Oppo and OnePlus have blurred lines lately, and the Oppo Find N3 was rebranded as the OnePlus Open for international markets.
So, if we see this as a sign, the Find N6 could finally bring the sequel to the OnePlus Open. To recall, the OnePlus Open was launched back in Oct 2023 and featured a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED main display with a 2K+ resolution. The cover display was 6.31 inches with similar high-quality specifications.
Under the hood, it was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. On the camera side, the Open includes a triple rear camera setup and is equipped with a 4,805 mAh dual-cell battery supporting 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
Given that the foldable landscape is evolving and more people are purchasing these phones, we might see an Open 2 soon. OnePlus’s stronger presence in places like India and the US also makes more sense for the OnePlus Open 2 to launch.
Considering that Oppo has started working on the Find N6, we will not see this device launch anytime this year. We can expect it to launch in early 2026, with a probable rebranded OnePlus Open 2 launching around mid-2026.
If Oppo sticks to its slim and light formula while powering the latest flagship 8 series processor, the Find N6 could serve as the perfect blueprint for the OnePlus Open 2.
