Google may soon expand its smart home lineup with a brand-new Gemini-powered smart speaker. The device was briefly teased at the Pixel 10 launch event, where the company also introduced the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a. While Google has not officially confirmed details, fresh reports suggest the speaker will run on Gemini AI with Gemini Live support, come in four colour options, and could debut in the coming months. news Also Read: Google One Cloud Gets Diwali Discounts: Plans Start At Just Rs 11 For Three Months

Google Gemini Smart Speaker Features and Design

According to an Android Headlines report, the upcoming speaker may launch in bright red, light green, black, and porcelain finishes. The green, black, and porcelain models are said to be called Jade, Obsidian, and Porcelain – names already seen on Pixel devices. The exact marketing name for the red variant is still unclear. news Also Read: High-Risk Alert Issued For Google Chrome Users: Update Your Browser Now

In terms of design, the speaker appears similar to Apple’s HomePod Mini, but bulkier. Unlike previous Google Home models with lights at the top, this device could feature a glowing ring around the base, much like Amazon Echo Dot speakers. The ring is expected to light up when users interact with Gemini. news Also Read: Gemini Nano Banana AI Image Editor Rolls Out To Google Search And NotebookLM: Here’s What’s New

AI Features and Capabilities

The Gemini-backed speaker is tipped to support Gemini Live conversations, allowing users to ask real-time queries like traffic updates, reminders, and smart home commands. Although it won’t have a camera, display, or portability, it is expected to deliver new natural Gemini voices, smart home automation, and media playback through voice control.

Reports also claim the speaker may detect unusual sounds – like a smoke alarm or glass breaking – and alert users on their connected devices. It could also pair with Google TV Streamers to create spatial surround sound and may function as a Matter hub, replacing older Google Home models.

Expected Launch Timeline

While Google gave a glimpse of the speaker at the Pixel 10 event, it could be officially launched by late October 2024 or Spring 2025. This means the device might arrive alongside the Pixel 10a, avoiding the crowded holiday launch window.
