Google recently brought its Google Wallet app to India. Now just days the company has updated its Google Pay app (formerly known as GPay) with three new features. These new features include ‘Buy Now and Pay Later’ and ability to see card benefits and they are aimed at helping users save time and money while shopping.
Here’s everything you need to know about Google Pay’s new features:
See card benefits
Google Pay is making it easier for users to pick cards that offer maximum benefits at the time of checkout. This feature is aimed at reducing confusion for the buyers with multiple cards.
“…some cards offer benefits for travel-related purchases, while others focus on dining out or offer cash back on every purchase, regardless of category. Now Google Pay will show your card benefits at checkout to make that decision much easier,” Google explained in its blog post.
This feature will be available to American Express and Capital One cardholders on Chrome’s desktop-based platform.
Fill card details automatically
With its latest update, Google is updating the Autofill feature on Chrome and Android. Until now, Autofill on Chrome and Android enabled users to automatically fill in a user’s shipping, billing and payment details. Now, the company has updated this feature such that it can also be used to automatically add all your card details using a fingerprint, face scan or screen lock PIN.
Users can also set up device unlock, wherein the app will ask users to unlock their devices before revealing their full card details for added security.
Buy Now, Pay Later
Lastly, the company is expanding support for its ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ feature to more merchants. This feature will give users more flexibility while shopping. The company has added Affirm and Zip to the list of supported merchants this time.
This feature is available in the US at the moment. This means that Indian users can’t use these features yet. There is no word on when Google will bring these features to its app in India.
