According to outage tracker Downdetector, more than 1,500 reports were recorded in India during the peak of the disruption. Of the complaints logged, 66% were related to the website, 32% to server connectivity, and 1% to video quality. The issue appeared to affect both personal accounts and workplace domains. The outage also led to a wave of posts on social media, with users reporting interruptions during classes, office meetings and interviews. A user asked on X, “Is anyone else experiencing issues with Google Meet today? Unable to join meetings at the moment. #GoogleMeet.” Unfortunately, Google has not yet issued a detailed statement on what caused the disruption.
This comes just a week after a major global outage involving web-infrastructure provider Cloudflare, which temporarily took down several big platforms, including X, Canva and ChatGPT. Cloudflare’s CTO Dane Knecht later admitted, “We failed our customers and the broader Internet,” after a network issue led to widespread downtime.
