Google Identity Check

Google has finally released the Identity Check feature for a few devices. The feature is focused on bringing an additional layer of security to Android devices. It will be beneficial in the situations when someone gets access to your smartphone. With the Identity Check feature, the users will be supposed to double authenticate themselves with the help of biometrics including facial recognition and fingerprints in case they want to access any sensitive data on their device.

Google Identity Check feature details

The security feature triggers when your devices are not in trusted locations. Google is expecting that the Identity Check will make it more complex for malicious people to use anti-theft features or change any of the security settings. However, one thing that the users should know is that the feature will not be able to make a big difference when the thief is using your device in any trusted location.

Whenever you are not at a trusted location, all the attempts made to get to the critical settings including changing your smartphone’s security PIN or disabling theft protection will be qaushed. This ensures that only the rightful owner of the device can make alterations to the same.

Google further addressed the way this feature joins the Theft Protection feature. As of now, the Google Identity Check feature will be available for Google Pixel devices running on Android 15 QPR1 stable version and Samsung Galaxy devices running on One UI 7.

TRENDING NOW

Users can activate the feature by visiting the Setting, then heading to Google services and preferences. After that, head to your primary Google account, All service, and then to Theft protection. If you have any other device apart from the mentioned ones, then you can expect to see the update in a few months most probably.
