Google is moving from the older 1.0 Pro model on the free tier of Gemini AI to the faster Gemini 1.5 Flash model. This makes Gemini faster, allowing it to give quick responses to queries. Further, Google has quadrupled the tokens for Gemini to 32K, up from 8K tokens. With 32K tokens, Gemini can handle long queries and converse with you for longer with several back-and-forth responses. “Today we’re upgrading our free-tier experience to Gemini 1.5 Flash. With Gemini 1.5 Flash, you’ll notice across-the-board improvements in quality and latency, with especially noticeable improvements in reasoning and image understanding. And just like we greatly expanded the context window in Gemini Advanced, we’re quadrupling Gemini’s to 32K tokens. That means you can have longer back-and-forth conversations and ask Gemini more complex questions – all free of charge.”

Apart from this, Google will also add some additional features to the free tier of Gemini. One of the features will be the ability to upload files via Google Drive or directly from your device, which will let you ask queries regarding the file. This feature has been available to the paid version of Gemini, the Gemini Advanced.

Gemini features will be accessible in more regions starting today. Google launched Gemini in Google Messages to select Android devices and it’s now rolling out to the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland. Gemini is now available in multiple languages, including French, Polish, and Spanish.
