The X boss Elon Musk is back with a new statement that has created a buzz in the tech space. This time around the billionaire has targeted Apple, warning that he may ban Apple devices like iPhones and MacBooks at all his firms. This means X, SpaceX Neuralink, and The Boring Company employees won’t be allowed to use iPhones. Furthermore, he said that the visitors at his firm will have to check their Apple devices at submit them at the doorstep to keep in a Faraday cage. Now, all that is a bold statement to make, especially targeting a trillion-dollar firm. But why did Elon Musk say that? It has to do something with the OpenAI partnership, which Apple announced at yesterday’s WWDC event. Let’s see what’s exactly the buzz all about.

Is Elon Musk really banning Apple devices at his firms?

Elon Musk took to X revealing his opinion on the latest partnership of Apple with OpenAI, the ChatGPT maker. He is concerned about the privacy and security issue that comes along with such a partnership.

“It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet it is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy. Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river,” stated Musk on X.

For the unversed, as part of the deal, Apple will be using OpenAI’s ChatGPT to integrate it with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to get their queries solved or images generated in seconds via Siri.

Musk hinted that if there’s an OS level integration of OpenAI, then it may be a threat to users. In another X post, he said, “If Apple integrates OpenAi at OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation. And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage.”

Musk has been criticising OpenAI for some time now. Apart from the privacy and security concerns, he had spoken about the firm not being maximally truth-seeking. It is worth noting that Musk has his own AI chatbot on X named Grok. Unlike other chatbots, Grok is paid and only accessible if you buy its monthly or yearly subscription.
