Google has finally released the much-anticipated first developer preview of Android 16. Earlier the previews of Android 15 appeared in February-March, but this time the tech giant released it earlier than expected, hinting early release of Android 16. As per reports, Google could unveil the Android 16 in the second quarter of 2025 from April to June. However, some minor changes and bug fixes can be done in the fourth quarter of the year, which is October to December. Android Developer head Matthew McCullough has released a dedicated timeline for the release which will help smartphone manufacturers to release in a dedicated timeslot. Another essential feature that’s available through developer preview is the Health Records. The feature contains the early version of API’s supporting heath records. It means the feature will “allows apps to read and write medical records in FHIR format.”

The there is Privacy Sandbox on Android which will help users know that their privacy is protected. Users who are eligible for the Android 16 developer preview can check out the SDK RUNTIME, providing stronger safeguards around user data collection and sharing.

Here’s How You Can Install Android 16 Developer Preview:

STEP1: Firstly, connect your Pixel device to your computer.

STEP2: Now with the help of Chrome, head towards the Android Flash Tool website.

STEP3: Click on the Get Started option in order to grant ADB access.

STEP4: Click on allow ADB access in the pop up menu

STEP5: Now click on add new device option

STEP6: Then you have to select the pixel phone and click on the Connect option.

STEP7: Now tap on Allow option on your pixel device

STEP8: In next step select on Android 16 Developer Preview 1 in builds section.

STEP9: Now click on the Install Build

STEP10: Click confirm

STEP11: Press on the volume down button and power button together.

STEP12: Once the buttons are clicked, the developer preview will start downloading on your smartphone.
