Earlier this year, Nothing’s founder and CEO Carl Pei confirmed that the Phone (1)’s successor won’t launch soon. However, as per a report, the Nothing Phone (2) will go official this year.
This time around, the Phone (2) is expected to reach the US market as well.
Nothing in an interview with the folks at the Inverse revealed that the successor to the Phone (1) is already planned.
Despite Pei stating the Phone (2)’s release to be nowhere near, the Nothing Phone (1) will be coming later this year. Well, that’s what Pei himself has confirmed to the US magazine.
Unfortunately, there are no clear details as to the phone’s design or specs. However, he revealed that the Phone (2) will be more premium than Phone (1) and as you’d expect, the software will be the major focus.
Although Pei’s words are pretty vague, we can expect an improved design, maybe a more customizable Glyph interface, and a better chipset. The software could also get refined with more features added to it.
Other than the specs, the Phone (2) will also reach the US, unlike the Nothing Phone (1). For the uninitiated, the company only now launched the Phone (1) in the beta stage in the US, which appears to have grabbed several eyeballs from the existing iPhone, Pixel, and Samsung users.
In other news, the Nothing Phone (1) is expected to get the official Android 13 OS soon. The device currently runs on Android 13 beta, which appears to have brought a few UI improvements.
The Phone (1) was recently spotted retailing at around Rs 25,000 on Flipkart making it a good entry mid-range phone. The device has a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
It has a dual camera system on the back with a 50MP main lens and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. It has a 16MP selfie snapper. The phone packs a 4,500mAh battery and has wired, wireless, and reverse wireless charging support.
