Motorola has an event scheduled for April 3 for the launch of the Edge 50 series. While the company has revealed details about just one phone, the Edge 50 Pro, some reports hint that an Edge 50 Fusion may also debut at the event. A new report has not claimed that there may also be an Edge 50 Ultra with the best specifications in the series, giving some upper mid-range phones a run for their money. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra may come as the successor to the Edge 30 Ultra, launched in 2022, as last year’s Edge 40 series did not have this model. Android Headlines has reported that the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will be more powerful than the Edge 50 Pro. While the upcoming Motorola Edge 50 Pro will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset may power the Edge 50 Ultra. That means better performance and optimised power consumption. The smartphone will likely use the company’s new Hello UI, based on Android 14. The report said there will be three years of Android OS upgrades on the Edge 50 Ultra. Also Read: Motorola Edge 50 Ultra vs iQOO 12: Specifications compared
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra could use a curved display, which will also be there on the Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Fusion. Other details such as the display’s size, brightness levels, and refresh rate are not available in the report. The Edge 50 Ultra will be available in three colourways. A Peach Fuzz variant looks more interesting than others because it has bagged the title of Pantone Color of the Year for 2024. Previous Motorola phones such as Razr 40 Ultra and Edge 40 Neo also had this colour model. The Peach Fuzz colourway and the Black variant will use a vegan leather back, while a variant called Sisal will use a light beige colour with a brushed finish.
As for its cameras, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will use triple cameras on the back, all featuring 50MP sensors. One of them will have a 75mm periscope lens for better portrait shots and an optical zoom of up to 5x. Above the periscope lens, there may be a laser autofocus, while a triple-LED flash will be there on its right.
While the report did not specify a confirmed launch date, it has pointed out that the wallpaper shown in the Edge 50 Ultra’s press renders has an April 3 date on the home screen. That is when the Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Fusion are set for launch. However, considering Motorola is hyping up the Edge 50 Pro instead of Edge 50 Ultra, even though the latter would be more powerful and expensive, the Ultra may not soon be coming to India.
