Google Pixel 8a is one of the most anticipated smartphone announcements this month. The company is expected to launch the device at the Google I/O event scheduled for May 14. Upon launch, the smartphone will likely arrive in the mid-range segment in India. Ahead of the launch, the design, price, and colour variants of the phone have been revealed.
Google Pixel 8a’s marketing material shared by Smartprix/OnLeaks, reveals the three colour variants of the device. The smartphone will arrive in Black, Green, and Blue (unofficial names). We also expect a Beige shade. The device features curved corners, unlike the existing Pixel 7a.
It boasts a dual-rear camera system with horizontal lens placement. It has the Google branding in the centre on the back. Further, the images also showcase the front of the phone. We get to see the compact screen with notably thin bezels.
Google will aggressively market some of the AI features on the phone such as the Circle to Search, as shown in one of the images. Other AI features of the phone are expected to be AI Audio Magic Eraser and Best Take. A promotional video revealed these AI features.
As for the specs, the Pixel 8a will be a big upgrade over the predecessor. The device may feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, up from the 90Hz panel on the Pixel 7a.
It is expected to boast a dual-rear camera system. The device will likely be powered by a 4nm Tensor G3 chipset, an upgrade from the Tensor G2 chipset in the predecessor. The device may pack a 4,500mAh battery with some sort of fast charging support.
Other than this, the possible pricing of the phone has been revealed. The smartphone is tipped to launch at around Rs 44,999 in India. It is worth noting that the Pixel 7a was unveiled at Rs 43,999, however, is now being sold for Rs 36,999. In the Flipkart Big Saving Days Sale, it will be sold for 31,999 with all bank offers.
Having said that, if the Pixel 8a arrives at the said price, it may be sold for under Rs 40,000 with launch offers. However, Google has yet to confirm most details so let’s wait for the the brand to do that later this month.
