Apple is all set for the launch of its upcoming iPhone 17 series in September, but there’s one product that fans have been waiting for even longer, and that is a foldable iPhone. For years, several rumors have come to the forefront about Apple experimenting with foldable technology, but the tech giant didn’t unveil it until now.

However, new reports suggest that the company might finally reveal its first foldable device next year.

Here’s What We Can Expect From a Foldable iPhone

As per reports coming from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s foldable iPhone is internally codenamed ‘V68.’ The design of the foldable iPhone could be similar to the Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup, meaning the device will open up into a tablet like screen.

If that happens, then it could mark one of Apple’s boldest entries into a new category of smartphones. Rivals like Samsung and OPPO are already in the market with their foldable smartphone, offering powerful features and enhancements.

Foldable iPhone Expected Camera Features

Now, one of the most exciting details that’s emerging about the Apple’s foldable iPhone is its camera system. As per report, the device is expected to be equipped with the four cameras, a major design overhaul as compared to the already available iPhones in the market.

The camera could comprise of one on the front, one on the inside, and two on the back. Unlike recent iPhones that relies on Face ID, the foldable iPhone might bring back Touch ID for the authentication.

Interestingly, the device might not have a physical SIM card slot, hinting at a complete shift toward eSIM technology.

Talking about the colors, the foldable iPhone is being tested only in black and white color options. While it may sound limited, but Apple is known to bring its products after refining it perfectly before launch.

As far as display is concerned, the company was initially testing an on-cell touch panel, however it create visible air gaps around the crease. In order to solve this, Apple is now said to be working on in-cell display technology, which is reported to be helping in reducing the crease and improve all touch sensitivity.

Foldable iPhone Launch Timeline and Availability

Rumors and reports suggest that Apple suppliers are already in works regarding device’s components. Additionally, the mass production could begin early next year in 2026 and we could expect the official release in the fall. If timelines go as planned, the foldable iPhone could make its debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup. Some earlier leaks even hinted that it may arrive together with models like the iPhone 18 Air, Pro, and Pro Max.
