
Microsoft is announcing to expansion of its Surface laptop lineup with a new addition. The tech giant is adding a 5G version in the laptop dubbed Surface Laptop 5G that will offer high-speed connectivity and AI-ready performance. The company also announced when it will start shipping the Surface Laptop 5G. Microsoft designed the Surface laptop to target professionals who are looking for enhanced and intelligent features in a laptop on the go.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 5G version will be shipped from 26 August 2025. It has built-in support for both both physical nano SIMs and eSIMs. Additionally, the company added a sophisticated antenna system built into the device.
“At the heart of Surface Laptop 5G is a dynamic antenna system that continuously adapts to its environment,” says Nancie Gaskill, general manager of Microsoft’s Surface division. She then further explains that the system in this laptop uses six adaptive antennas that hift automatically based on how the laptop is being used or held.
Under the hood, the Surface Laptop 5G runs on Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 processors, equipped with integrated NPUs (Neural Processing Units). These chips are optimized to support Microsoft’s Copilot Plus AI, a suite of tools designed to boost productivity and automate everyday tasks using on-device machine learning.
The laptop is also built in a way that it enables smooth radio signal transmissions that too after maintaining laptop’s sleek form factor and durability.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5G is available in two variants including the base model at $1,799.99. This model is equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 5. Then comes second variant of 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage and high-end variant of 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage that is powered by the Core Ultra 7. The high-end variant is priced at $2,699. All the variants are available in platinum silver finish color.
