iPhone has a great resale value. That is why a huge market for refurbished and used iPhone devices exists. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple captured a whopping 49 percent of the market share of refurbished smartphones globally in 2022. iPhone can go for years before turning completely kaput, making them usable for second- or third-party buyers, looking for a good smartphone without having to spend the cost of a new iPhone. At the same time, it is also mutually beneficial for sellers. Old iPhone models sell for more than what their Android counterparts about the same age do. However, most people who are selling their used iPhone models ignore setting up the device for resale. If you are also planning to sell your old iPhone, there is one important thing that you need to keep in mind.
You need to ensure that you have logged out of your iPhone everywhere. That means signing out of your iCloud account and Apple ID primarily, and removing accounts for third-party apps such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft. This is a crucial step because not only does it de-authorise the device from your account but also ensures there is no cloud data left on it. You must also delete any stored data on the iPhone before handing it over, as well. You can erase all the data on your iPhone in one go, but make sure you have backed up the data before that.
