iPhone hacks: Screen sharing is a feature that has been traditionally limited to video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The idea has always been to use it to collaborate over work with colleagues. But Apple changed that by introducing screen sharing functionality in FaceTime in 2021. This feature lets users watch videos and even movies as they get on a call with their family and friends.

FaceTime‘s screen sharing feature is a neat trick that can transform the way you communicate, making conversations and collaborations livelier. In this step-by-step guide, we have made it easier for you to navigate and use this handy feature, making your FaceTime conversations much more interactive and memorable.

iPhone hacks: How to share your screen in FaceTime

Step 1: Start a FaceTime Call
Kickoff your screen sharing experience by making a FaceTime call. Open up the FaceTime app on your iPhone or iPad and choose the person you would like to share your screen with. The screen immediately transforms into the FaceTime interface once you’re connected.

Step 2: Open Screen Sharing Menu
As you chat away in your FaceTime call, give your screen a tap to bring up the call options. In that list should be the screen share icon – a square that’s making a break for freedom with an arrow. Touch and open!

Step 3: Kickoff Screen Sharing
Touching the icon for screen sharing pops up an option to start broadcasting your screen. Select ‘Start Broadcast’ and you’re live! Expect a pop-up as a quick double-check.

Step 4: Navigation
With screen sharing activated, you are free to navigate around your device as you please. Meanwhile, the person on the other end of your call is getting a live tour of what’s on your screen, everything from apps and pictures to web pages.

Step 5: End screen sharing in FaceTime
When you are ready to call it a day on screen sharing, simply tap the screen sharing icon one more time mid-call. You’ll see a prompt to confirm that you want to wrap things up – ‘Stop Broadcast’ will do the trick.
