Changing phones or having multiple numbers of the same person can mess up your contact list. It can not only make it difficult to find another contact with the same name, but it can also make it difficult to users to look for alternate ways to contact a person, especially when looking for a contact in emergency. Thankfully, both Google’s Android OS and Apple’s iOS have features that enable users to merge duplicate contacts. Users can either merge all duplicate contacts at once or link them manually. So, if you find yourself in a situation where you want to clean up your phone’s contact book and merge duplicate contacts, here is a step-by-step guide for Android phone and iPhone users. Step 3: Tap the Fix and Manage button at the bottom of the Contacts apps.
Step 4: Then tap Merge and Fix button.
Step 5: Tap the Merge Duplicates option. Then tap Merge button to accept the suggested option. You can accept all suggestions by tapping the Merge All option.
Step 1: Ensure that your iPhone is running iOS 16 or a newer iOS version.
Step 2: Open the Phone app on your iPhone.
Step 3: Tap the Contacts option at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: A pop at the top will appear informing you about the total number of duplicate contacts you have. Tap the View Duplicates option.
Step 5: Tap the Merge All button at the bottom of the screen to merge the contacts.
Alternatively, you can try this:
Step 1: Open the contact apps on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to the contact for which you want to aggregate data.
Step 3: Tap the Edit button on the top right corner of the app.
Step 4: Scroll down and tap the Link Contacts button.
Step 5: From the available list, select the duplicate contact you want to link to your contact.
Step 6: Tap the Link button and then tap Done.
