Paytm Reminder: What Is It?
Online payments have become daily habits in today’s digital world, keeping all the security and privacy intact. Several companies like Paytm, Google Pay, and more are now allowing users to create personalized UPI IDs, which is a safer and more secure way to make transactions. In this article, we will delve into how to create your own UPI ID on Paytm and Google Pay and make secure payments.
To recall, UPI IDs used to be linked to your phone number or email address, which can sometimes lead to the compromise of passwords and privacy. The newly launched personalized UPI ID feature replaces these sensitive details with a unique alphanumeric ID. This allows users to make payments without exposing their personal information.
For example, instead of displaying your phone number, your new UPI ID could look like username@ptaxis or myid@pthdfc
This unique ID feature on Paytm and Google Pay creates a digital identity for users, along with reducing risks such as unwanted contact, harassment, or misuse of personal details. With online scams on the rise, this step adds an extra layer of protection for those who rely on UPI for their everyday payments.
STEP 1: The first step is to open your Paytm app.
STEP 2: Now, tap on the Profile icon in the top left corner.
STEP 3: Here, you will see the UPI & Payment Settings option.
STEP 4: Now, click on View next to your UPI ID.
STEP 5: Select the option Try Personalised UPI ID.
STEP 6: Enter your desired custom ID or choose from the suggested list.
STEP 7: Tap Confirm, and your new UPI ID will be activated instantly.
Currently, this feature supports Yes Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and SBI accounts, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
The option for personalized IDs is not yet visible on Google Pay, but reports suggest that it will soon be available to all users and will work in the same way as Paytm’s personalized ID feature works. Users will likely find this under Profile > Bank account > Manage UPI IDs once the feature is fully live.
