Indian gaming has been on the rise. With The Age of Bhaarat, Mumbai Gullies, and Project 11A, the gaming space is heating up. Now there is a new entry in the scene that might shake things up. Mumbai-based underDOGS Studio has unveiled Mukti, which is the first Indian-developed title confirmed for PS5. It brings a fresh and unique India-centered narrative. The best part is that this project is backed by Sony under their India Hero Project.
Sony has shown gameplay for Mukti as well, and it fully utilises the DualSense controller’s haptics and adaptive triggers. This collaboration aims to deepen immersion, making every hit in combat and every puzzle solving moment feel tangible.
The game is a narrative driven adventure that is inspired by titles like Gone Home. It is set in mid-2000s India and players step into the shoes of Arya, a young woman investigating her grandfather’s mysterious disappearance inside a museum. As she explores this space, she uncovers hidden clues that unravel darker realities tied to human trafficking. This makes the story more complex and adds a hint of heritage, compassion, and shadowed truths.
It is a deeply emotional journey where the protagonist explores the echoes of the past. Arya returns to find the museum abandoned and puts all the pieces together. The game looks to strike a perfect balance between mystery and history, making the experience more immersive. The game promises detailed environments, intense sequences, and emotionally driven storytelling that is optimized for 4K on PlayStation 5.
Currently listed as coming soon on Steam, Mukti is planned for release on both PlayStation 5 and PC. While the exact release date remains under wraps, this project marks a significant milestone for Indian gaming on the international stage. With the backing of Sony and the innovative support of the India Hero Project this game could make it big in the global mainstream market.
