Sony is working on an even better, more advanced PlayStation gaming console. Reports are rife that it will be called PlayStation 5 Pro, “Pro” being the operative word that represents major upgrades in the specifications, aimed at giving the best-ever gaming experience. While the leaked specifications of the Sony PS5 Pro paint an interesting picture of what is in store for avid gamers, there has so far been nothing official from Sony yet. However, game developers have dropped perhaps the biggest hint that the PlayStation 5 Pro is indeed happening.
The Verge has reported the upcoming PS5 Pro will pack the most powerful GPU ever on a PlayStation console. The biggest difference it will bring over the existing ones is better ray tracing in games, but other aspects such as higher graphics resolution and frame rates in select titles will also improve. The first change, however, matters to Sony the most. According to the report, Sony has asked developers to implement ray tracing in their games as much as they can. Doing that would make a game eligible to go with the “Trinity Enhanced” (PS5 Pro Enhanced) label. That is an indirect confirmation from Sony that the PlayStation 5 Pro is indeed in the works.
— According to the report, Sony hopes the processor on the PS5 Pro would bring roughly 45 percent faster performance than the existing PS5. Gamers can expect the best gaming experience on the PS5 Pro.
— Sony is reportedly using a “more powerful ray tracing architecture” in the upcoming PlayStation console. This would allow rendering up to three times better than what the regular PS5 offers.
— The GPU will become larger and use faster system memory to deliver the best ray tracing experience, according to Sony’s guidelines to developers, obtained by The Verge.
— Sony plans to continue selling the regular PS5 models after the PS5 Pro launch, giving customers more options and a console for every kind of gaming needs.
— Developers are likely working on higher versions of their titles, but they will be available as part of a single package, which will work on both PS5 and PS5 Pro.
While some reports have said the launch of PS5 Pro will take place sometime this year, this is no clarity yet. That is because reports suggesting a launch this year are scant. Sony has not said anything official yet either.
