Sony is adding a fresh splash of colour to its PlayStation 5 accessory lineup with the launch of the Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense controller. The new design takes inspiration from the signature blue glow that’s been a part of PlayStation’s identity ever since the PS4 days. It sports a blend of rich blue shades across the grips and lower shell, giving it a layered, premium look. The touchpad is finished with a subtle glossy pattern featuring the iconic PlayStation symbols. On the back, Sony has included Katakana lettering that spells “PlayStation” in Japanese, serving as a subtle nod to the company’s origins. Leo Cardoso, from Sony’s Colour, Material and Finish design team, said the idea behind the design was to capture that familiar moment of excitement when players power on their console and see the signature blue light come to life. The Icon Blue DualSense will launch on October 20 in the United States and Canada, followed by a release on October 28 in Mexico and Chile. Pricing is set at $84.99 (USD), CA$109.99, MXN $1,899, and CLP $93,490. For now, the controller will be available exclusively through Walmart stores and Walmart’s official online store in these regions.
While the special edition sports a fresh look, it retains all the familiar DualSense features – including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion controls, a built-in microphone, and a USB-C port. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and works seamlessly across PS5 consoles, PCs, and supported mobile devices.
The launch of the Icon Blue edition ties in with PlayStation’s ongoing 30th-anniversary celebrations, which began in early September. Sony hasn’t yet confirmed whether the new controller will expand to other markets like India, but given the popularity of past colour variants, a wider release seems likely.
This addition joins Sony’s growing range of DualSense colours, which already includes Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Midnight Black, and several limited-edition models inspired by major PS5 game releases.
