Nintendo is hosting a Direct presentation, confirmed to be held this week. The Nintendo Direct showcase will feature upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The Mario maker confirmed the event through a brief announcement, revealing the date and time of the livestream. Nintendo did not disclose any details about the contents of the upcoming showcase.
The Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled to take place on September 12 (Friday) at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET (6:39 p.m. IST). The event will be streamed live on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
Alternatively, you can watch the Nintendo Direct showcase in the embedded video below when it goes live.
According to Nintendo, the Direct presentation will be around 60 minutes long. This means we can expect some big announcements at the showcase.
The date is an interesting choice. The showcase falls just a day before the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros., which first launched in Japan on September 13, 1985. That timing has set off speculation that Nintendo could use the occasion to announce something big for Mario – maybe even the long-rumoured next game in the series.
While Nintendo hasn’t shared any official lineup for the show, expectations are high. One of the most anticipated announcements is a potential release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which has already been confirmed for both the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 console. The game is slated to arrive in 2025, and fans hope the Direct will finally bring clarity on when it will launch.
Other major titles expected to be highlighted include Pokémon Legends: Z-A, releasing October 16, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which is due later this year. Nintendo is also likely to showcase upcoming third-party games. The Switch 2, which launched earlier this year, has already built a strong lineup with big titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and Hogwarts Legacy making their way to the platform.
This will be the seventh Direct of 2025, following earlier general showcases and smaller, game-focused events. Given its one-hour runtime and the anniversary backdrop, this presentation is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet.
