Microsoft Xbox users get another shock with the latest price hike for the passes. The tech giant has announced the price hike for its Xbox Game Pass. The worrying part is that the top tier of the Xbox Game Pass has witnessed a 50 percent price bump. Not only that, the Xbox maker has also introduced changes to its subscription tiers. Premium: This plan expands to 200+ games, which include cloud gaming, new Xbox-published titles within a year of release, and extra in-game rewards. This plan costs $14.99 in the US and Rs 699 in India (earlier it was Rs 619).
Ultimate: The top-tier plan is now at $29.99 in the US (up from $19.99) and Rs 1,389 in India (up from Rs 829). It comes with 400+ games, day-one releases, Ubisoft+ Classics, EA Play, and Fortnite Crew membership starting in November. Moreover, it includes enhanced cloud gaming with 1440p streaming, shorter wait times, monthly V-Bucks via Fortnite Crew, and deeper discounts through an upgraded Rewards program.
Meanwhile, PC Game Pass also saw a jump in price. It costs now $16.49 in the US and Rs 939 in India, nearly double its old price of Rs 449.
Microsoft says the changes are about “adding more value and flexibility” for players. Still, this is the second price increase in just over a year, and with console prices also going up, the move may sting for many gamers.
For now, existing subscribers will be automatically shifted to the new plans. Core becomes Essential, Standard moves to Premium, and Ultimate stays as it is-just at a higher cost.
