Epic Games has announced that it will soon launch the Epic Games Store on iOS and Android. It will be a multi-platform store similar to the PC version of the app, which offers games and other services to Windows users. This means you will soon be able to play Fortnite on your smartphone, regardless of the operating system.
One of the advantages of using the Epic Games Store for games is that you will get a wide range of titles to play. You will also be able to play Fortnite on iOS as well as on Android. For the unversed, Fortnite was earlier removed from Apple’s App Store for implementing its own payment system to bypass Apple’s hefty cut. Now, however, the game will be back on the platform via Epic Games Store.

Epic’s Game Store arrival on mobile will benefit developers as they will be able to keep 88 percent of the revenue generated. Epic will get a 12 percent cut, which is measly over Google and Apple’s around 30 percent cut. So, overall, Epic Games Store is beneficial for developers in terms of revenue generation.
Thanks to the European Union’s Digital Market Act, Epic can launch its storefront on iOS. However, it will likely be only available to iPhone users in the EU. This means even if Fortnite arrives, it could be restricted to EU users. We’ll have to wait more to gather more details on the same.
On the Android side of things, there’s no such restriction. Google allows alternative app stores, and Epic Game Store should be no problem. That said, Epic’s upcoming storefront on Android should be available globally.
Unfortunately, Epic hasn’t given a timeline for the release of its storefront. But the company has assured that the Epic Games Store should be available later this year. The company has yet to reveal what all other games it’s bringing for the mobile platform apart from Fortnite.
As per the promotional image, the mobile game store will offer Rocket League, Rocket Racing, and apps like Postparty.
