Elon Musk’s xAI Launches Grok 4: Smarter AI Model With New Features - All Details

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched its latest artificial intelligence model called Grok 4. The announcement was made during a live session on X (formerly Twitter), where Musk and the xAI team explained what’s new. They say Grok 4 is smarter, especially when it comes to reasoning and academic knowledge, and is designed to compete with top AI models out there. According to tech mogul Elon Musk, Grok 4 is better at understanding and solving complex topics across various subjects. During the livestream, he even said, “Grok 4 is smarter than most PhD students.” 

To test its performance, xAI used a benchmark called Humanity’s Last Exam, which includes 2,500 challenging questions across different subjects. To a surprise, Grok 4 scored 25.4%, which is higher than Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI’s o3-high models.

“Grok 4 is at the point where it essentially never gets math/physics exam questions wrong, unless they are skillfully adversarial. It can identify errors or ambiguities in questions, then fix the error in the question or answer each variant of an ambiguous question,” Elon Musk added.

Grok Heavy Is Also Here

Along with Grok 4, xAI also introduced Grok Heavy, a system where multiple AI agents work together to solve problems. Each agent comes up with a solution, and then they compare the results to choose the best one. This kind of setup is useful for more complex tasks that need deeper thinking.

Using extra tools, Grok Heavy scored 44.4% on the same benchmark test, beating even more advanced models like OpenAI’s Deep Research and Gemini with tools.

xAI has also launched a high-end subscription called SuperGrok Heavy, which costs $300 (around Rs 25,700) per month. This plan offers more usage, faster access, and early features, including Grok Heavy. It’s currently the most expensive AI subscription available to regular users.

The launch of Grok 4 comes after some controversy. The previous version, Grok 3, had posted antisemitic content on X, which was later removed. xAI said the issue was caused by Grok being too compliant with user prompts. Musk added that this flaw has now been addressed in Grok 4 to prevent such mistakes in the future.
