After testing it for a while, OpenAI’s new GPT-4 Turbo model is now available to ChatGPT users. However, as always, this latest model will be available to paid users of the AI chatbot. ChatGPT Plus users can access GPT-4 Turbo

OpenAI first announced GPT-4 back in November 2023. The company confirmed that the new model could receive six times as many pages of text, i.e. 300 vs 50 in the previous model. The company recently announced GPT-4 Turbo with vision capabilities. With this, the model can analyze images and offer insights. This ability was also said to arrive in ChatGPT for paid users.

With Vision capabilities, it can analyse images and interpret them. The company also shared some examples of how this feature will work. Several brands will be using the updated API that the Vision capabilities.

It is worth noting that Microsoft integrated GPT-4 Turbo with its AI chatbot Copilot back in December. Interestingly, Microsoft Copliot’s free version has GPT-4 Turbo support during non-peak times. On the other hand, Pro users can access the Turbo model even in peak times offering faster performance.

As for ChatGPT users, if you are on the Plus plan, you are good to go as OpenAI should update its support anytime from now. However, if you are using ChaGPT’s free version, you won’t be able to experience the new model’s features. The free version of the AI chatbot uses GPT 3.5. That said, it may not be able to handle complex prompts or offer quick responses.

Also, it has been trained on data available till September 2021, whereas, ChatGPT Plus with GPT-4 Turbo has been trained on data available till December 2023. ChatGPT Plus costs $20 per month.
