WhatsApp is working on a new feature to make storage management much easier than before. As per a latest report by WabetaInfo, WhatsApp is now rolling out a chat clearing feature to the latest Android 2.25.34.5 beta update, which will let users delete messages or specific media categories.  news Also Read: You Can Now Share Spotify Songs Directly To WhatsApp Status: Here’s How

As per the report, the latest Android 2.25.34.5 beta version introduces a new bottom sheet interface for deleting messages, with the option to review exactly what gets removed before confirming the action. This will help the users to decide what they want to delete from the chat, instead of the entire conversation. It can be photos, text messages, videos or specific files. news Also Read: WhatsApp Is Set To Get Third-Party Chats Support Soon: Report

This feature comes with a real-time storage display that shows how much space will be freed up after deletion. It’s especially helpful in group chats, where large videos and audio messages tend to pile up quickly.  news Also Read: 7 Privacy Settings Every WhatsApp User Should Enable

Save Starred Messages Despite Deleting The Chat

Not only that, the latest update also makes it easier to manage your starred messages while clearing the chat. For example, if you want to clear the entire conversation but need to save the starred messages or media within it, then an extra step of asking will make it simple. For instance, if you’ve starred an image, a file, or an important note in a conversation, you’ll now get a prompt asking whether to keep or delete them before finalising the cleanup.

Apart from these, WhatsApp has also made the feature easier to find. The “Clear Chat” option now appears at the bottom of the chat info screen, similar to how it works on iOS.

When Will You Get It?

The new chat-clearing update is currently available to a limited number of beta testers on Android. WhatsApp plans to expand access gradually in the coming weeks before making it available to all users.
