Handling multiple accounts on WhatsApp has never been an easy task. I remember the early days when I had to carry two phones all the time, just keep my two accounts of WhatsApp active without altering the existing one. This hasn’t changed much since then. However, finally, it seems like WhatsApp is preparing to make the process simple to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts.

As per a report by WhatsApp’s update tracker WabetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on this new feature, which allows you to add and manage a second WhatsApp account directly from the app’s settings. This will let you switch to a different account without the need to be dependent on WhatsApp Business.

WhatsApp Multiple Account Feature

The report suggests that each account of WhatsApp will have its own separate settings, notifications, and chat history. This will help you to keep the distinction between both accounts without the need to log out or log in from the existing one. It may work just like the Instagram accounts when you switch between two accounts within the app.

How will you be able to log in to the secondary WhatsApp account? WabetaInfo report suggests that you will be able to add the second account while registering it via phone number, just like the way you do for a new account or simply by adding the existing one with a QR code.

The report further reveals that the feature could be added in the Settings within a new option of Account List, where it will allow you to quickly check the accounts and switch between them.

What about the notifications? When a message comes in on a secondary account, users may see a special notification showing both the sender’s name and the account it was sent to. This helps avoid confusion between accounts. Tapping the notification will automatically switch to the correct account and open the message, making it quicker to respond without switching manually.
