Instagram will soon transform the way people find content on the application. Other users have begun to receive a new limitation of three hashtags per post. This new feature has not been publicly announced yet, though early reports indicate that Instagram is running the feature with a small group and then will take a wider rollout decision.

Instagram’s Hashtag Usage May Become More Controlled

Instagram has never failed to use hashtags massively. They assist posts to be shown in topic search, recommendations, and trending sections. To date, users have been allowed to add 30 hashtags to one post. Apparently, that figure is under testing as part of Instagram experiments in streamlining content discovery.

According to a report conducted by DroidApp, some users have been issued with a message as they add hashtags saying that one can only use three. The limit is not showing up to all, which makes it obvious that the change is a part of a limited A/B test. There are still some accounts that utilize the full 30-hashtag limit without any limit.

Meta Has Not Announced the Feature Yet

Meta has not reported this change officially. As this limit has been experienced by only a part of the users, it can be assumed that Instagram is experimenting with the new rule and its impact on engagement and content ranking. In case the outcomes are good, the restriction may ultimately be extended to everybody.

Instagram Is Also Working on More Personalized Recommendations

Instagram is coming up with additional features as well to provide the user with more control over visibility, in addition to the hashtag test. A new feature that will be emphasized will permit a user to select or delete subjects affecting his or her recommendations. This will begin with Reels and then be extended to the Explore page.

This new control panel is labeled Your Algorithm, and it will be found in Settings. It displays a list of the topics that form the feed of a user depending on the activity they performed previously. The users are then able to customise their interests to have a more personalised browsing experience.
