Google’s circle-to-search feature is in the limelight due to the convenience it provides. And now, Samsung has taken it to the next step by integrating music recognition. The feature will identify a song playing on the screen and kick-start a Google Search for it. Nonetheless, it has not been confirmed if the feature is available for only beta testers or it is rolling out for the masses.
In a Reddit post by a user who goes by the name SamsungAmatuer on the platform, the music search function was spotted. The feature allowed the user to initiate a Google search for a song playing on the screen. The user found it on his Samsung Galaxy S23 series device.
As for the working of the feature, the screenshots suggest that we will get to see a new icon next to the Google Search floating action button. The icon is located next to the floating action button. As soon as the users tap on the button, they will see a text on the screen – Play, Sing, or Hum a song. The feature will then accurately identify the song name and artist along with running a Google Search for it.
Most probably, the feature is being tested as of now. However, it is going to sign the death warrant for Shazam once it reaches the stable version. Shazam has been one of the most popular music identification app for a long time now. And this feature by Google poses a great threat to Shazam. The main reason behind the same is that users are not supposed to download a third-party app for music recognition. It will be interesting to see accuracy in the results of music recognition once it reaches a broader audience.
