Amazon Music, one of the most popular music streaming platforms, is jumping on the generative AI bandwagon, too. It has introduced an AI playlist-generation tool called Maestro, which allows users to create playlists using just text or a combination of text and emojis. The new tool is available to a few beta testers but only in the US, and Amazon has no word on an international launch.
It is a very simple tool where you can type in what you want to listen to or what you are feeling to find the best match of songs. There is also speech-to-text support, so you can say the prompt out loud to receive an AI-generated playlist. According to Amazon, these prompts could be as creative as they get. For instance, it could be something like “I tracked my friends and they’re all hanging out without me.” Amazon Music’s Maestro will create a playlist based on the input. Maestro is available only through Amazon Music’s mobile app, so you cannot access it on the Web, Fire TV, or Android TV.
Amazon Music Maestro is not very different from Spotify AI Playlist. Both services create playlists with some music and songs catering to a prompt. However, unlike Maestro, Spotify’s tool is available for regular users in the United Kingdom and Australia. It is a part of the Premium subscription.
Amazon Music’s Maestro will be available to just Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers as and when it becomes widely available. For now, beta testers with a Prime membership and those on an ad-supported version in the US, a free 30-second preview will be available to decide whether they like a Maestro-generated playlist. They can save the list and listen to it later. Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can save and listen to playlists immediately. Other than that, there is no additional fee on Maestro for now.
