Vi eSIM support: Vodafone Idea also known as Vi first introduced eSIM support for postpaid users back in July 2020. Now, nearly four years later, the telecom giant is rolling eSIM support facility to its prepaid users. The company today announced that it is launching eSIM services for its prepaid customers in New Delhi. With this supported smartphone and smartwatch users will be able to use their Vi networks for activating eSIM on their devices. For the unversed, Vodafone Idea rolled out eSIM support to its prepaid users in Mumbai earlier this month and now, days later, the company is bringing the same to its prepaid users in New Delhi. It is worth noting that at the moment eSIM support on prepaid numbers is available only on Android and iOS powered devices in New Delhi and Mumbai. And it remains to be seen when the company rolls out this service to all its prepaid users across the country. For existing Vi customers
Step 1: Send an SMS with “eSIM <space> registered email id” to 199.
Step 2: Once your message has been validated, you will receive a confirmation SMS. You would need to reply with “ESIMY” to confirm the eSIM change request within 15 mins of receiving the message.
Step 3: After this, you will receive another SMS requesting consent over a call.
Step 4: Next, you will receive a QR Code on your registered email id which you will have to scan by going to Settings > Mobile Data > Add data plan.
Step 4: Tap on Continue button.
Step 5: Choose the default line (Primary/Secondary) for your device and then tap Done.
Once you do this, your eSIM will be activated within 30 minutes.
For new Vi customer
Step 1: Visit your nearest Vi Store with their identity proof and follow the activation process there.
