Honor, after a long break, made a comeback in the Indian market with multiple devices. That being said, I recently got my hands on the Honor 200 5G. I would like to say that the device looks stunning and performs very well too which we will discuss moving forward in this review. The smartphone has a close to smudge-free back panel which intrigued me the moment I took the device out of the box. Without any further ado, let’s dive deep into a detailed review and my experience with the device.

As for the pricing, the 8GB RAM variant of Honor 200 5G with 256GB internal storage is available in the Indian market for Rs 31,999 on Flipkart and for Rs 25,998 on Amazon India. On the other hand, 12GB RAM variant of the device with 512GB internal storage can be purchased for Rs 37,999 on Flipkart and 32,998 on Amazon India.

Honor 200 5G Review: Design

Honor 200 stands out from the crowd with its design. The smartphone has an oval-shaped camera island housing 3 sensors and a flash placed at the top left corner of the smartphone. Apart from that, we can see the Honor branding at the bottom left with the primary sensor details. Apart from that, the back panel of the device looks clean and also offers a shiny marble-like finish that adds more zeal to its look.

However, one thing that I would like to add here is that the marble-like structure of the device makes it a little too slippery and it will definitely force you to use a back cover for the same. As compared to other options in the same price range, it feels a bit heavier while carrying in hand because of the weight maybe. The left edge of the device is clean and both the volume buttons and power button are placed on the right spine of the device. The speaker grille, USB Type-C port, and SIM tray are available at the bottom edge of the device.

Honor 200 5G Review: Display

Honor 200 5G display

Honor 200 ships with a 6.7-inch AMOLED Quad-curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Now, talking about the basic display characteristic, it feels like the phone wanted to have a flat one, but under peer pressure, it got stuck between a curved display and a flat display. The curves of the device are not that refined, at least according to me. Talking about the display quality, the 4000nits of peak brightness can be actually felt while using the phone under different lighting conditions.

You can use the phone in any lighting condition without straining your eyes. And the high refresh rate bundled with the display makes the experience a little more seamless. I watched a couple of YouTube videos along with watching Kengan Ashura and the vibrancy of the videos was at par. You can clearly feel the Widewine L1 support while streaming videos via OTT platforms. Apart from that, the in-display fingerprint animations are cool and the feature is pretty responsive as well.

Honor 200 5G Review: Performance

Honor 200 5G performance

The Honor 200 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. Now, the device performs very well while multitasking. For example, I opened multiple Chrome tabs at the same time along with YouTube and Netflix running in the background, and not for a moment did I feel that the device was lagging. However, if you consider the price range, the performance was not as good as compared to other devices.

One thing which I can say here is that you will not face any problems while using it on a regular basis. And for gaming enthusiasts, the loading speed and graphics rendering of the smartphone are impressive, but again you cannot expect anything less after spending around Rs 35,000 on a phone.

As for the software, Honor 200 runs on MagicOS 8.0 based on the Android 14 operating system. While the user interface and customization options were decent, the phone has a lot of bloatware which can be irritating at times. There are multiple app clones that you are not going to like that much. And a few features like Magic Capsule look like they are existing just for the show. The only feature that I personally loved from MagicOS’ arsenal was Magic Portal which lets you drag and drop text from photos and videos.

Honor 200 5G Review: Camera

Honor 200 5G camera

Honor 200 sports a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary shooter, a 50MP Sony IMX 2.5X portrait shooter, and a 12MP ultra wide-angle shooter. And undoubtedly, I can say that the camera of the device stands as the biggest USP. In daylight, the phone manages to capture clean and detailed shots with exact color reproduction.

Now, if the exposure of the light is too high, then you can feel the heavy saturation of colors in a few clicks. Apart from that, the ultra-wide angle sensor in the device is a misfired shot. None, of the clicks were above average in terms of details and color reproduction and it could be a major turnoff for photography enthusiasts.

That being said, Honor has tried their best to cover it all up with the portrait sensor as it managed to capture some really great shots irrespective of the lighting condition. It offers multiple modes that can be used to enhance the quality of a click as well. Coming to the front, you get to see a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor here too. The phone just manages to capture game-changing selfies without breaking a sweat. It keeps the skin tone close to natural along with not missing out on any and every detail in a shot.

Honor 200 5G Review: Battery

The Honor 200 packs a 5,200mAh battery along with 100W super fast charging support. On regular usage, the device can go on for around 20 to 22 hours with 7 to 8 hours of screen time. At the time of testing, the smartphone lost around 4% of the battery at optimum brightness while watching YouTube videos for an hour.

In addition, the battery drained at a speed of 9% per hour while playing heavy games. Now, a major drawback with the phone is that you have to purchase the charger separately. This is something that bugged me considerably. While using a 67W Realme charger to fuel it, the device went from zero to 50% in 25 minutes and got fully fueled up in 57 minutes. I expect that with its own charger, the smartphone will not take more than 42 to 43 minutes to reach zero to 100%.

Honor 200 5G Review: Verdict

The Honor 200 is a decent device at under the price bracket of Rs 35,000. The phone is suitable for all who are looking for a durable device with fast-paced performance. The bloatware can be a major turn-off along with the absence of charging brick. As you will get a charging brick with almost every device in the mentioned price range. Apart from that, you could consider purchasing it for the looks and performance.
