WhatsApp is working on several new features which will be available in the stable update soon. These features were spotted while testing the app's beta version on Android and iOS. Here are the top seven features we are excited to see.
WhatsApp will soon let you use AR call effects and filters for video calls. So you can pop your image and add some objects while on a video call. As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, we can also do skin smoothing and other dynamic facial filters.
You will soon be able to set new chat themes to personalize your WhatsApp experience. As per the update spotted in the beta version on iOS, users can switch between blue, pink, and white among other colours. These themes will likely be available later this year.
WhatsApp is trying to replace your call dialer with an in-app dialer. A recent beta version on Android has revealed the in-app dialer that will allow users to make calls via mobile data as well as through SIM.
Transferring chats from your old device to your new one can be a tedious process, as you have to back up all data on Google Drive/iCloud. However, WhatsApp is testing a feature that allows users to transfer their chat history by simply scanning a QR code.
This one is a privacy feature we expect to be available later this year. The feature will not allow users to take profile photo screenshots. Users will have to enable this setting from the Privacy menu in Settings.
WhatsApp will soon allow users to share status to specific contacts right while posting it. This will do away with the need to hide people from seeing your status via Settings. That said, this upcoming feature will be way more convenient for some.
Meta AI is already available on WhatsApp, however, you have to tag Meta AI to generate images before sending them in a group chat. WhatsApp will soon add an option to create AI-generated images right in the Attachments menu.
