Apple’s September 9 ‘Awe Dropping’ event will unveil the iPhone 17 series and more. But not every device fans expect will make the cut this year. Here are seven Apple devices skipping the launch.
Apple is retiring the “Plus” model after poor sales. The slim, ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace it in the lineup, leaving no room for a Plus version this year.
The M5-powered MacBook Pro won’t make its debut at this event. Apple is expected to push its release to Q4 this year, keeping current MacBooks as the latest options for now.
Last year saw the launch of the M4 iPad Pro, Apple’s thinnest iPad yet. An M5 version isn’t on the cards this September and is likely to follow a later release cycle.
Apple introduced the affordable iPhone 16e earlier this year. Its successor, the iPhone 17e, is unlikely to arrive at the September event and may stick to a separate timeline in 2026.
The affordable iPad Air and iPad 12 aren’t expected at the event. Apple is focusing on higher-end products this time.
Apple’s premium headphones won’t see a major update. After shifting to USB-C, the AirPods Max won’t get new features or a redesign at this year’s iPhone event.
Despite demand for a refreshed tracker, Apple is not expected to unveil AirTags 2. The tiny location device remains unchanged while Apple focuses on bigger hardware launches.
