Xiaomi has officially begun teasing its upcoming MI MIX Flip 2. Xiaomi’s smartphone marketing head, Wei Siqi, has also teased this phone, and it is expected to be the company’s first foldable release this year. Xiaomi is not planning to launch the big-screen Mix Fold 4’s successor and is rather focusing on the super-sleek Mix Flip 2. This will be a clamshell foldable that might bring some solid upgrades.
With the foldable market heating up, it looks like Xiaomi is moving in with a different strategy. Their focus on a clamshell phone shows that they are trying to make foldables more compact to reach a larger audience.
According to some reports, the MI MIX Flip 2 might sport a gorgeous 6.85-inch OLED inner foldable display with a crisp 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover screen also gets a large 4-inch outer screen. Xiaomi is planning to improve the experience of this outer display with a fresh redesign for running apps seamlessly.
Under the hood, this phone is rumoured to be powered by the mighty Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, meaning top-tier performance in a compact flip phone. In the battery department, the flip phone might be fuelled by a robust 5,100mAh battery. It might also support 67W wired and 50W wireless charging to get you back in action in no time. Additionally, the Mix Flip 2 is said to boast IPX8-rated water resistance and would weigh around 190 grams.
Coming to the cameras, the Mix Flip 2 is expected to pack a punch with a 50 MP main camera with OIS support and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera.
All in all this phone is shaping to be a great foldable and might shake up the foldable market. Alongside this phone, Xiaomi is also gearing up for a major launch event later this month that’s expected to also unveil Redmi’s compact gaming tablet and the K80 Ultra flagship phone.
