Another day, another global outage at the Meta servers. Meta’s WhatsApp went down worldwide on Wednesday night, as per the Indian Standard Time (IST). Following it, Meta’s Instagram, Facebook, and Threads also had issues loading up posts. Thankfully, the services are back and all apps are running as usual. news Also Read: YouTube’s Next Big AI Upgrade: Lip-Syncing For Auto-Dubbed Videos Coming Soon

WhatsApp, Instagram and other Meta apps down for billions

How it started was that people were unable to receive messages on WhatsApp. If you attempted to send a message, it would go undelivered. Sent messages during the outage were delivered only after the services came back on Thursday Morning. Initially, WhatsApp started giving issues at around 11:45 PM on Wednesday. news Also Read: WhatsApp’s New iPhone Update Brings A Liquid Glass Design, But Also A Strange Mute Bug

The company addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter) at 12:25 AM on Thursday confirming the same and assuring that the services will be back to 100 percent working. After a few hours at 3:49 AM, WhatsApp confirmed that the app was up and running as normal.

While WhatsApp was down, several people also faced issues on Meta’s other apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. Users were unable to open posts or create new ones on these apps. However, this wasn’t a long outage like WhatsApp’s so the services were reportedly back to normal in some time.

Unfortunately, Meta has yet again not disclosed the exact reason behind the outage. If you are unaware, Meta’s apps going down isn’t a new issue. This is the second Meta outage of this year. The last one was just in early March for Instagram, Facebook, Threads and Messenger.

WhatsApp’s last major outage was back in 2022, when the app was down for two hours. That affected several users as many used WhatsApp even for their work communications.

It’s unclear what’s happening at Met servers, but there’s clearly something that needs a permanent fix instead of such quick fixes after the damage is done.
