The Tamil Nadu government signed agreements with several potential investors, including Microchip, Nokia and PayPal for building a robust AI enabled eco system in the state. The collaboration is signed in order to promote artificial intelligence in several sectors, including healthcare, education, and agriculture.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister signed an MoU with Microchip in the presence of Chief Minister and Industries Minister TRB Raja, represented by Patrick Johnson and Bruce Ware. The agreement includes setting up an R&D centre in semiconductor technology at Semmancheri in Chennai. The centre will generate 1500 jobs.

As per MoU, the tech giant Google will set up AI labs in Tamil Nadu for supporting and enhancing research and development. The initiative will provide necessary infrastructure and expertise in order to support the AI team.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior government officials, industry experts, and representatives from Google. The collaboration is expected to foster a robust AI ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, driving innovation and creating opportunities for startups and researchers.

The upcoming labs will focus on developing AI solutions for the challenges faced by the Tamil Nadu state. These challenges involve giving solutions to problems like how to improve healthcare outcomes in the state. Additionally, the labs will also focus on increasing agricultural productivity in the state.

“Another successful day in San Francisco. We have secured a Rs 400 crore investment from Ohmium in Chengalpattu district, creating 500 jobs,” Stalin said.

The company praised the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment towards promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the state. With this partnership, Tamil Nadu becomes the latest state to join the AI race, following similar collaborations between Google and other state governments. The move is seen as a significant step towards harnessing the power of AI to drive growth, improve lives, and establish India as a global leader in emerging technologies.
