Samsung has finally unveiled its highly anticipated Galaxy XR headset, an AI-native extended reality device that proves to be best for work, play, and more. The brand announced the launch via its blog post, revealing key specifications and features of the XR headset. The device is built on the Android XR platform and is co-developed by Google and Qualcomm. Samsung Galaxy XR integrates Gemini AI, making it a smart companion for users.

Samsung Galaxy XR Price and Availability:

The Samsung Galaxy XR will be available starting October 21 in the USA and October 22 in Korea. Samsung’s long-term XR roadmap includes AI glasses in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, combining advanced XR technology with stylish, practical designs. It is priced at $1,799.

Features

Samsung built its Galaxy XR with an aim to deliver an immersive experience to users and allow them to interact with the device naturally. It is equipped with 3D photo and video capture technologies and auto stabilization of 2D content into 3D. The feature will help users transform their media and memories into lifelike experiences.

Other than this, the Galaxy XR headset comes with Gemini AI integration that helps in navigation, content discovery, and real-time guidance in games and virtual environments. The tech giant has also included a detachable light shield in the Galaxy XR to enhance the immersion. In addition, there is a separate battery pack, making the product lightweight and comfortable for long sessions.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy XR is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform along with Hexagon NPU and paired with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, allowing users to have smooth multitasking and ample space.

It comes with advanced tracking with two pass-through cameras, six world-facing cameras, four eye-catching cameras, five IMUs, one depth sensor, and one flicker sensor. Additionally, users will also get to experience Iris recognition in the product for secure access and app login functionality.

Display & Camera

For display, the Samsung Galaxy XR features a Micro-OLED screen along with a 3,552 x 3,840 pixels resolution, 6.3-micron pixel pitch, 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, and 27 million pixels. The display also supports 60Hz, 72Hz, and up to 90Hz upon service request. It also comes with a 109° horizontal and 100° vertical field of view.

The headset supports 3D capture with an 18mm F2.0 lens and 6.5MP resolution. Audio is powered by two-way speakers and a six-microphone array, supporting multiple codecs including Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, MP3, FLAC, and AAC formats. Video playback supports UHD 8K at 60fps with HDR10 and HLG.

Battery & Connectivity

The newly launched Galaxy XR provides up to 2 hours of general use and 2.5 hours of video playback. You can also use it while charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) and Bluetooth 5.4.

The headset supports vision correction through separately sold optical inserts, with interpupillary distance (IPD) ranging from 54–70mm. The device weighs 545g with the forehead cushion, while the separate battery weighs 302g.
