Samsung has announced to expand its One UI software to its home appliances, bringing the user-friendly interfaces that are already used in Samsung smartphones and TVs. The update will now be available in appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and more.

“By bringing One UI to smart appliances, we are transforming the way people interact with technology in their homes,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team of the Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “This consistency ensures that the experience feels natural and familiar across all our devices.”

One UI Experience Across Home Appliances

By expanding its One UI software experience in its ecosystem, the tech giant is extending its software across several product categories. Apps and services like Bixby, Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus will now work smoothly across different screens. With One UI, Samsung is making it easy for users to enjoy content and manage devices, all at the same time.

Services and Features Offered

The company says, through SmartThings, user will be able to connect all their appliances into one hub. In addition, they will be able to access services like Family Care, Pet Care, and Home Care. Features like Now Brief will offer quick, personalized updates such as weather, schedules, and even washing machine status.

Software Updates for Appliances

One of the highlights of this announcement is Samsung’s providing 7 years of software support for appliances that come with Wi-Fi enabled. This will start with the 2024 Samsung models.  This ensures longer usability, better performance, and strong security over time.

Samsung is Bringing the September Update

Appliances that come with a display will also get features like Passkey support and a Knox Security dashboard for real-time monitoring.

The AI Vision Inside will recognize more foods in refrigerators, while Bixby will now support Voice ID for personalized responses. Samsung TV Plus will expand to new countries, including India, and washing machines will support more regional languages.

The update will also bring the new 2025-style One UI design to 2024 appliances.
