In order to revolutionize internet connectivity in India, the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has partnered with Elon Musk’s Starlink. This partnership is focused on delivering high-speed satellite internet to remote and underserved regions across India. There are regions in India where setting up a traditional broadband infrastructure is difficult, so Reliance Jio aims to combine its vast telecom network with Starlink’s satellite technology. With an aim and promise to bridge the digital divide, both the companies aim towards enabling millions of Indians to access faster internet services, most importantly regardless of their region.
The partnership between Reliance Jio and Starlink is taking place in order to explore the potential of providing satellite internet services to all over India, mostly in places where he internet services are either weak or unable to reach. However, the agreement is contingent on SpaceX because it needs necessary approvals to operate Starlink in the country. This move not only strengthens India’s digital infrastructure but also marks a significant step forward in the nation’s goal to become a global leader in connectivity.

Mathew Oommen, Group CEO, Reliance Jio says, “Ensuring that every Indian, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority.”
He further says, “Our collaboration with SpaceX to bring Starlink to India strengthens our commitment and marks a transformative step toward seamless broadband connectivity for all. By integrating Starlink into Jio’s broadband ecosystem, we are expanding our reach and enhancing the reliability and accessibility of highspeed broadband in this AI-driven era, empowering communities and businesses across the country”
With the help of this partnership, Jio could leverage Starlink’s satellite technology to make sure that its internet services are reached to rural and remote areas in India. These places are tough and also conventional infrastructure is limited. Meanwhile, on Starlink’s point of view, the company with this partnership will be able to expand its reach to both individuals and businesses. Reliance Jio’s vast network portfolio could help and support Starlink’s direct-to-consumer services in India.
