Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Launch Date in China With Major Performance Upgrades

Qualcomm has announced that unveil its highly anticipated chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It is positioned above the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the company’s lineup. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 promises to deliver high-end performance, however, potentially being more affordable. Nevertheless, we don’t have the whole specifications currently, but early leaks reveal that Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could deliver performance very close to the top-tier model.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Launch Date and Event Details

Qualcomm confirmed on Weibo that Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be officially unveiled in China. The company will be launching it on November 26 with several enhancements and upgrades. The company made the announcement exactly two months after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in November. The launch will cover detailed specifications, performances and benchmarks.

Expected Specifications

As per industry experts, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will feature an octa-core setup with two prime cores clocked at 3.80GHz and six performance cores running at 3.32GHz. The chipset will use the same Adreno GPU 840 as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

However, the number of physical processing units in the GPU may be slightly reduced to manage costs. It still maintains the flagship level of 1.2GHz clock speed with an AnTuTu benchmark that surpasses 3.3 million points. The chipset is also expected to maintain over 100 frames per second in GFXBench Aztec Ruins 1440p tests.

Upcoming Smartphones With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Several smartphone manufacturers are planning to launch their devices with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, including OnePlus Ace 6T, which will debut as the OnePlus 15R. Another device will be the Vivo X300 FE and then Redmi Turbo and Poco F8.
