OnePlus is looking to skip the unlucky 14 and jump straight to the 15 series. Just like it ditched the OnePlus 4 back in the day, the brand is expected to go directly from the OnePlus 13 to the OnePlus 15. Some recent leaks have also suggested that this jump in numbers might come with a leap in specifications, including a more powerful chipset and a larger battery.
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 15 is currently in the prototype stage. The first notable upgrade is expected in performance, where we might see the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is set to be announced around September. This means it will match the performance of other flagship phones on the market and go head to head with the top dogs in the flagship segment.
But the real upgrade comes in the form of the battery. The OnePlus 15 is rumoured to pack a 7,000mAh+ battery which is easily the biggest we’ve seen in a OnePlus flagship to date. Not only that, it might also support 100W wired and wireless charging. Interestingly, the massive battery hints at the use of silicon-carbon tech, as the phone is still expected to maintain a slim profile. OnePlus is reportedly working hard to keep the design lightweight and sleek despite all that juice.
On the display front, OnePlus is reportedly going with a flat panel this time around. The OnePlus 15 is expected to feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPO screen with a 1.5K resolution. The brand is also aiming for visual refinement by using LIPO packaging technology, which should deliver a cleaner and more symmetrical look.
Another major refinement would be in the haptics, as OnePlus is reportedly planning to use a 0916 vibration motor for a more premium tactile experience. Alongside this, we can also expect a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and IP68/IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. On the camera side, OnePlus is still in the testing phase and is planning on using a triple 50MP setup.
With a monster battery, flagship performance, and refined build, the OnePlus 15 could mark one of the biggest generational upgrades we’ve seen in years from the brand.
