Meta has unveiled the future of wearable technology with the launch of its two new smart glasses, dubbed Meta Ray-Ban Display and the Oakley Meta Vanguard. While the Meta Ray-Ban Display takes augmented reality into everyday eyewear, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is more focused on the athletes who are looking for performance and durability.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display is the first smart glasses from Meta that integrates a heads-up display (HUD). These are positioned at the bottom of the right lens. The Ray-Ban Display comes with a 600 x 600 resolution AR screen that offers bright as well as sharp visuals. It reaches up to 5,000 nits of brightness and minimal light leakage.
In addition, the glasses also feature a 12MP camera with 3X zoom, capable of capturing high-quality photos and 1080p videos, supported by 32GB internal storage.
Meta also launched a Neural Band, an innovative wristband that uses electromyography and reads subtle finger movements. This allows users to scroll, click, and interact without touching the glasses.
This Neural Band is durable and splash-resistant and can enable smoother navigation, text messaging, video calls, live translation, and even turn-by-turn navigation directly on the UHD.
Ray-Ban Display is priced at $799 (around Rs 70,100) and comes bundled with the Meta Neural Band. It will be available first in the US and then will be expanded to Canada, France, Italy, and the UK next year.
Another smart glasses launched by Meta is the Oakley Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses, designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. It sports a wraparound frame with Oakley’s Prizm Lens technology. They can block sunlight, wind, and dust, hence ideal for intense activities. It has a centrally placed 12MP camera above the nose that captures wide-angle videos in multiple modes, including 3K resolution, slo-mo, and hyperlapse.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses are equipped with open-ear speakers, five microphones with wind reduction, and an action button. These glasses ensure both clarity and control during high-speed activities. The tech giant has also partnered with Garmin for integrating health and workout data to sync seamlessly with AI through the glasses.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard starts at $499 (around Rs 43,850) and is available for pre-order in multiple countries, with India, Brazil, Mexico, and the UAE set to receive it later this year.
