New UPI Rules: Here’s What’s New

With the new rules of UPI coming into effect starting August 1st, there will be some changes that may impact you. Such as: news Also Read: Indian Users Can Now Use UPI To Shop On International Sites Via PayPal World: All You Need To Know

Account Balance Checking: You’ll be able to check your account balance only 50 times a day, while you can view linked bank accounts up to 25 times a day. Now, that may sound like a lot, and for most people, it won’t even matter. But if you’re someone who keeps refreshing your balance or payment status too often, you might want to take note.

UPI AutoPay: If you have subscriptions, EMIs, or bills that are paid automatically via UPI, there’s a small update. From August 1, these AutoPay transactions will happen in fixed time slots, not randomly spread out through the day like they used to be.

It must be noted that it’s a behind-the-scenes change, so most users won’t notice a thing. However, if you run a business that relies on these automatic collections, you may need to adjust your process slightly.

If you are concerned about UPI transactions, please note that there’s no change to the amount you can send through UPI. The Rs 1 lakh per transaction limit still applies to regular payments. For specific categories like healthcare and education, it’s still Rs 5 lakh.

UPI Rules: Who Will Be Impacted?

The new rules apply to all UPI users, whether you’re checking your balance once a week or making multiple payments daily. But honestly, if you’re not constantly checking or refreshing, you probably won’t even feel the difference.
