Meta Verified update: Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta Verified is coming to WhatsApp Business in India. In addition to being rolled out in India, the feature is also being rolled out to WhatsApp Business users in
Brazil, Indonesia and Colombia. The announcement was made at the company’s annual Conversations event, which took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil this year.
“And, Meta Verified on WhatsApp is coming to Brazil, India, Indonesia and Colombia so people know when they’re chatting with authentic shops and services,” Zuckerberg said at the event making the announcement.
Meta had originally introduced Meta Verified for creators in February last year. Then at the company’s Conversations Conference, which was held in Mumbai in September last year, Zuckerberg announced that the company will soon expand Meta Verified to businesses on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. Now, roughly seven months later, Meta is finally bringing Meta Verified to businesses in India.
For the unversed, Meta Verified, as the company describes, is ‘a subscription bundle on Instagram and Facebook that includes a verified badge that authenticates your account with government ID, proactive account protection, access to account support, and increased visibility and reach’.
For WhatsApp users, the Meta Verified badge is a sign of authenticity or in other words the business that are interacting with on the platform is exactly what it is claiming to be. For business owners, the Meta Verified badge means that get protection against impersonation.
“When you see a Meta Verified badge, this means a business has registered their information with Meta. Businesses using Meta Verified receive enhanced account support (including impersonation protection) and can use WhatsApp across multiple devices for their employees,” Meta wrote in a blog post.
“You will also see the same Meta Verified badge for these businesses on their WhatsApp Channel and custom WhatsApp page,” the company added.
Additionally, Meta has introduced new AI tools for businesses on WhatsApp. This tool will give users more information about the products that they are searching for. It will automate the answering process for businesses. This feature is also coming to business ads on Facebook and Instagram.
Lastly, Meta is introducing the ability to call larger businesses on WhatsApp in just one tap. “If you have a complicated travel request or want to discuss opening a new account with your bank, a quick call might be the best way to get help,” the company added. Meta has started testing this feature and it will be available to businesses in the coming months.
