Apple might be shaking things up with the upcoming iPhone 17 series. A fresh new leak suggests that the standard model could finally get a 120Hz display. This feature has been exclusive to the Pro lineup for a long time. This could be great news for those who want to experience the smoother 120Hz display but don’t want to spend a fortune to buy the Pro model. news Also Read: Another Pro Max Phone Coming Soon, This Time From Oppo: Check Out Leaked Specs And Launch Timeline

iPhone 17 Leaked Specifications

The base iPhone 17 is reportedly sporting a slightly bigger screen. Renowned display analyst Ross Young revealed on X that the base iPhone 17 will be around 6.27 inches, which is slightly larger than the 6.1-inch panel on the iPhone 16. The biggest upgrade is that Apple fans will finally get the Apple ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate, marking a first for any non-Pro iPhone. news Also Read: iPhone 17 Series Review - iPhone 17/Air/Pro : What's New & Special? What to Expect from the iPhone 17 Lineup

To recall, the iPhone 17 series leaks have been out in the wild for a long time. This year, Apple is rumoured to have a four-model lineup but with a bit of a twist. This time, Apple plans to skip the Plus variant and introduce the new iPhone 17 Air. This could be Apple’s move to compete in the slim form-factor segment against devices like the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Not only that, but this time around, the iPhone 17 series is also getting the biggest design change yet with a design overhaul. The new design replaces the familiar square camera module with a more rectangular one, which seems to be inspired by the Pixel’s visor bar.

On the performance front, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air could be powered by either the A18 or A19 chip paired with 8GB of RAM. The Pro and Pro Max variants are rumoured to pack the A19 Pro chip with 12GB of RAM for extra performance.

The inclusion of a 120Hz display on the standard iPhone 17 is the biggest leap Apple has taken in a while. This will likely bring major changes and new features for Pro users as well. The iPhone 17 series launch is still a little ways off and is rumoured to happen around mid to late September this year.
